blooms July - October
likes woodland and woodland edges
can be seen under the trees which line the edge of the Bothwellhaugh Football pitch

   
There can be as many as 100 flowers on the stem of this woodland orchid. Although its roots are often deeply infected with fungus, the plant benefits since the fungus generates water and salt which help its growth.
